Iyanola Pictures was established to produce and bring to market films set in St. Lucia and of a St. Lucian flavor and to create video educational material for primary and secondary schools. The company focuses on material that has entertainment value yet imparts positive social values and exposes viewers to St. Lucian history and culture.
Iyanola Pictures owes its origins to the southern drama group Vizyon De Lavi. In 1986, as part of Nurse's Week celebrations, Nurse Lelia Harracksingh directed a Desruisseaux Seventh Day Adventist youth group in the staging of The White Angel, a play written by Mathurine Emmanuel. The White Angel moved many in the audience to tears, including then Prime Minister Sir John Compton.
